With a tool active this is the exit node's location, not necessarily yours.
How it is measured
- Speed: one file from this site (up to 15 s) and one from a CDN (up to 10 s); speed = bytes received ÷ elapsed time. A 5-second burst of 3 parallel streams gives the peak.
- Latency: 2 HEAD requests to each of 10 common domains (8 s timeout); the median is the headline.
- Reachability: one HEAD request to each of 10 commonly blocked sites (8 s timeout); we record whether anything answered.
- Stability: 18 images of known size are loaded (10 s timeout); an image passes only if its dimensions match.
- Quality: the YouTube resolution that the average non-local speed could sustain.
We store only the measurements, the location and tool you chose, and your OS and browser type; when a tool is used we record the exit IP's country. Your IP address is never stored.
